I think the whole nation breathes a sigh of relief as hair, nail and beauty salons are now open. So many of us have realised how valuable they are to our well-being. I have my hair appointment booked and many of my family are booking their nail and beauty appointments as I write.
If you own a hair, nail or beauty salon, I expect you are busy catching up with all of your appointments. One thing to make sure you don’t overlook is the wide range of printed materials you can use to make your business run more smoothly and to get your branding out there in what has become a very competitive world.
I’ve compiled a list of printed materials we can provide to all hair, nail and beauty salons. Some are obvious items you may already have, but some are more unusual, or specialist, and you may not realise how useful they can be. The great thing about all these printed items is that they can truly unique as they are fully branded to your business. Our talented graphic designers can design them for you if you don’t have the time or support to get your artwork done yourself.
Appointment cards
An old-fashioned appointment card is always useful. Personally, I like to check my phone when arranging my next appointment, but I’m slow when entering events on my phone. Therefore, I prefer to take home an appointment card and enter my next appointment at my own pace. It’s also handy to pin up on a board at home to remind me when it’s due, or to share with my partner or family if we don’t have a shared diary.
These appointment cards generally hold all your contact details and the date and time of the next appointment – and you can also include space to enter the treatment as well. You may also have some terms and conditions that you want to emphasis (for example if a deposit is required for certain treatments.
Appointment cards are generally double sided, on a heavier card stock. You can have full colour or black and white.
Booklets
Some salons offer a very wide range of products and services that they want to offer to their clients and in this case a booklet can be a good way to show to various options available. This has more the look and feel of a magazine and can be produced in a variety of standard and non-standard sizes.
Some larger salons also like to produce booklets as training manuals for staff, or employment manuals with details of health and safety and any risk assessment and method statements.
These can be produced as glossy magazine style booklets, or more formal bound booklets.
Business cards
Despite what people say, the often-maligned business card is still very useful. Who doesn’t want to carry a few with them to hand out if appropriate? It can offer a link to your website and social media and have all your contact details. It’s small and easy to store so many people keep them.
Many of our clients use QR codes on their business cards to link direct to a webpage or Facebook page for their business.
Business cards come in a lot of shapes and sizes. They can be standard, double sided, folded, laminated in gloss or matt.
Forms and pads
Many salons like to personalise their consultation forms. These can be printed for you with your own branding in A4 or A5 in a pad form, so the back of the pad is firm so you can easily write detail on your knee if a desk if not available. We can also produce these as NCR pads so that the client and the salon both have a copy.
Many salons also like to keep record cards, for example hair colouring and shading. These can be created and printed to fit any storage solution you use for these forms. They are generally printed on a heavier card that will take a ball point pen without damage to the record card. These must be sturdy as they are often kept for many years.
Flyers
Flyers are an easy way to promote events and new product launches and some salons prefer this option for simple price lists. Where flyers are particularly useful is to arrange to have them pushed through doors in the local area. This Is particularly useful when a new salon is launching or has special offers. It’s also an advantage in getting your branding out there. We all know that buyers often must see something around seven times before they buy, and this can be an inexpensive way of raising awareness of your salon locally.
A5 and DL sized flyers are also useful to have in a stand on the reception desk for current client to take away with them – which can build loyalty or hopefully clients if they pass them on to their friends and family.
Post cards, Birthday cards and Christmas cards
Building loyalty in your client base can often just mean making small gestures. So, having branded post cards, birthday cards and Christmas cards can be a personal touch that is remembered. Many salons must take personal information depending on the type of treatments they offer. This means a salon owner will often have the information they need to action these small gestures that often mean a lot to clients.
Folded leaflets
Folded leaflets are ideal to show treatments available and price lists. They can be produced on a wide range of paper and in many sizes to suit your business. For longer lasting leaflets we also offer laminated folded leaflets.
Gift vouchers
Gift vouchers give your clients an opportunity to introduce you to their friends and family. We all know that feeling when we just have no idea what to get someone for a birthday or Christmas or just for a special ‘thank you’. Having a range of gift vouchers available makes life easier for your clients, and it helps you to grow your business.
Another way to use gift vouchers is where you give a money off voucher to loyal clients with another for them to share with someone close to them. So, for example, you could give them a voucher for £5 off their next treatment and £5 off for their friend.
Gift vouchers are definitely an underused option for hair, nail and beauty salons, so why not call us to discuss the different options so you can choose the right option for your business?
Loyalty cards
Loyalty cards are the best way to keep your happy customers coming back for more appointments and treatments as they collect points to be used against a future appointment or treatment.
These can either be double sided or a folded card with your own unique design. They are generally printed on substantial card stock suitable to be written on with a ball point pen. There is also an option to have a gloss front or outside and an uncoated back or inside on which to write or stamp.
Posters
Posters can be used in so many different ways and can be printed in many sizes. The usual uses for posters are in outdoor signs (see more about this in the next section) or they can be put up on the walls inside your salon to add ambience or promote certain services or products.
Outdoor banners and signs
Outdoor banners usually are high quality PVC and finished with eyelets and hemmed. These are very useful for outdoor advertising either above your salon, at events you attend or on railings etc. They can be particularly eye catching for advertising seasonal events you may hold as they are big and bold and show up from a distance.
Outdoor pavement signs are generally an A frame design. You can have them designed and delivered with fixed posters on either side (the same or different). Or you can change out the posters for variety or to promote different events and / or treatments. These can also come if different sizes so give us a call to discuss the best option for your business.
Roller banners
There are several ways you can use roller banners in your hair, nail or beauty salon. For example, you can use them at events you attend to promote your business, you can use a more robust PVC version outside your premises when open, or you can even use transparent versions with a small amount of branding as COVID partitions. They are light and easy to move around the salon. You can store them in a very small space, and they can be erected or folded away very quickly.
Stickers and labels
Stickers and labels can add a certain amount of personalisation to your other printed materials or can be used for special events. For example, if you want to offer a % discount at a particular event, if you have a sale of some kind, or a giveaway. They can be produced in a variety of sizes and colours as well as different shapes, for example circles, squares, or rectangles.
Using stickers means that you can use your normal printed materials but personalise them for events, because they just stick to your current product. It can save you getting specialist printing done for these events and so they can be very cost effective.
